Community Service Officers-Paid Internship
The goal of the Community Service Officer (CSO) Internship Program is to give Criminal Justice students a hands-on educational experience with law enforcement. Community Service Officers are responsible for enforcing parking ordinances, providing security for Town Beach property, and assisting uniformed patrol officers during special events. Community Service Officers are required to promote a positive image of the Narragansett Police Department at all times.
The Community Service Officer internship is a forty hour a week paid internship. The internship will start June 9th and end Labor Day weekend. Applicants must complete an employment application, a notarized release of information authorization form, and provide a letter from their educational institution (Dean, Dept. Head, Advisor, etc.) confirming their current enrollment in a Criminal Justice program. Print the forms for seasonal employment application and notarized authorization for release. Complete both forms (authorization for release form needs to be notarized) and either mail to the address provided below or return in person at the Narragansett Police Department.
Successful applicants must undergo a background check and participate in an oral interview.
Applicants must fully complete the three required documents listed below and return them to the attention of Lieutenant Daniel Sorice at the Narragansett Police Department, 40 Caswell Street, Narragansett, RI 02882. Completed applications with required documents may also be emailed to dsorice@narragansettri.gov.
Required documents for successful applicants:
- Completed employment application.
- Signed and notarized release of information authorization form.
- Letter from your educational institution confirming your current enrollment within a Criminal Justice program type of study.
Applications must be received by March 13, 2023.
