Information
The Water Division is responsible for the complete operation and maintenance of the town’s water storage and delivery systems, including over 71 miles of pipe lines, over 300 hydrants, and three storage tanks with a combined capacity of two million gallons. We perform quarterly meter readings (forming the basis for water and sewer bills), as well as compile and validate the water roll for approximately 5,230 customers.
The Water Division operates within the Water Enterprise Fund, which is solely supported by user fees and charges, with no property tax contribution.“The Rhode Island Water Resources Board has published the results of their Annual Survey of Rhode Island Residential Water Rates for 2010. We are pleased to report that Narragansett offers the second lowest drinking water rates in the State for our customers! Coupled with the fact that we were the 2009 recipients of the “Best Tasting Water in RI” award, we are proud to continue to offer a first-class service at a very reasonable rate to our customers."
