How do I dispose of household hazardous waste – e.g. propane tanks, oil based paints, rechargable batteries, fluorescent light bulbs?
Anything labeled with words like “danger”, “flammable”, “combustible”, “toxic”, poison”, etc., cannot be recycled, nor should it be in the regular trash. These materials are dangerous when handled improperly and can put workers and the environment at serious risk. Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation runs a special, free program for collecting hazardous household waste from Rhode Island residents called The Eco-Depot.
