To Our Water Customers - Water Rate Adjustment
The Town Council has adopted an increase in the base water rates for the direct Town of Narragansett customers. While an increase in rates is never welcomed, it is necessary in order to maintain the financial health of the Water Fund, which derives all of its revenue from user fees, and none from tax dollars. This increase will allow us to maintain the high level of service that our customers are used to, and will allow us to also to maintain a reasonable fund balance for emergencies. The increase for the majority of our customers (based on meter size) will be $40.00 per year, or $10.00 per quarter (from $280.00 per year to $320.00 per year). The rates for other meter sizes will also increase – see the Town’s website or contact us for additional information. This is only our 4th rate increase in 17 years, and our rates still remain among the lowest in the State. This increase will take effect with the September 2017 billing (going forward). Thank you in advance for your understanding.
