[ARCHIVED] Preparing for Hurricane Sandy

Stay tuned to our website, alerts and register for Everbridge notifications for the latest up-to-date information from your local officials. Remember prepare for the “First 72 on you.”

Should the storm surge create a danger to low lying areas of town mandatory evacuations will be ordered for all residents living or working in those areas. To find out if you are in an effected area check the map for your location. When in doubt we suggest you GET OUT. An official announcement of when and who the evacuations will be made by town officials as soon as possible to provide ample time for residents to relocate.

The emergency shelter for the town has been moved to the South Kingstown High School located at 215 Columbia Street in Wakefield. This shelter is open to all residents of South Kingstown and Narragansett and others will not be turned away. Proof of residency is not required and the shelter is provided at no charge. Please remember no Pets, no Weapons, no Alcohol and limit personal belongings. Ample parking is provided in any of the lots around the building. Announcements will be made regarding when and if the shelter will be opening
