The National Weather Service has placed a fire weather watch in effect for our area from Monday 4/16 through Tuesday 4/17. RI DEM Forestry has also announced Class IV - High Fire Danger.
This means that all outdoor burning will be Strictly Prohibited until conditions improve. Typically this will occur after a significant and accumulating rainfall has occurred.
During times of "High Fire Danger" the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management reminds individuals to be constantly aware that any outdoor fire is a potential source for a wildfire. Charcoal cooking fires must be cold before being discarded. Smokers should use ash trays. Dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles should be in good running condition with mufflers to minimize sparks. Always check with Narragansett Fire Department to obtain a permit to burn.
