Narragansett Prevention Partnership

Our Mission

The Narragansett Prevention Partnership creates a healthy and safe environment by implementing and supporting prevention strategies for the Narragansett community. The Narragansett Prevention Partnership will include representation from a broad base of constituencies and partners in prevention and will create an infrastructure in which its strategies are embedded in the community.

Our History

The Narragansett Prevention Partnership has been in existence for 22 years. Our original name was the Narragansett Youth Task Force. The current staff coordinator has been at the helm for over twelve years. The coalition changed its name in October of 2008 to reflect its updated mission and vision. The coalition has always had representation from the superintendent of schools and for the past seven years has had the police chief involved, as well. The core membership is made up of school administration, police officers including the SROs and parents.

In the past several years we have added representation from partner organizations like the South County Community Action, the Katie DeCubellis Memorial Foundation, and the University of Rhode Island.

We usually have at least 20 members present at the monthly meetings. Meetings are usually held on the second Friday of the month at 9 a.m. and we usually hold our meetings at the Narragansett Community Center.
